Favorite Drugstore Nude Lipsticks!
Favorite Drugstore Nude Lipsticks |
We all need some nude lipsticks for smokey eye days. ;D Not all nude lipsticks are the same, and I have three picks for my favorite drugstore nude lipsticks. I would say they are all pretty popular. Guess there's a reason for that. :)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm Review
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm |
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm is a very pale peach balm stain. I would say it's the balm stain version of Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Creamsible. Charm has a light pink tinge when applied on lips. Of course the pink tone will be more obvious on people with pink/mauve toned lips as the product is not completely opaque.
Formula is great. It goes on smoothly but it's not too smooth and buttery that it will melt all over the place in heat. This particular color is not too opaque but few swipes, then it's no problem. It moisturizes little bit. Not too much though. But considering that most stains and long wearing lip colors dry out your lips quite a bit, it's really good. This does tend to accentuate dry patches so I recommend regular exfoliating. :) It does not settle into lines on your lips. Also it doesn't get used up quickly. Yay!
Staying power is not too great for this shade. It wears off in a couple of hours and then the stain is supposed to remain. However, since this is such a light color, the stain isn't too noticeable. As shown in the pic below, it does stain but it doesn't quite compete with your natural lip color. It does change the tone of it slightly. Darker colors have much much better staying power as they stain more.
It's a pencil type product that you can twist up and down (nice because some don't twist down for some reason). The narrow tip is bound to be lost as you use it but even when it's flattened out, the surface area isn't too big. It's still small enough for a precise application. I really like pencil type product because it's easier to apply/reapply without mirror if need be.

Haul!
MAC Lipstick in Shy Shine (Lustre), MAC Sheertone Blush in Garb, Bobbi Brown Blush in Desert Rose, and Keihl's Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser |
I went to an outlet today and I couldn't pass by Cosmetics Company and Designer Fragrances and Cosmetics Co. A magical force pulled me into these stores. :) Seriously, I was headed to them without thinking about it.
This has to be one of very few times I make impulsive cosmetic purchases. I really like to research products and plan my purchases out but there was no way of knowing what's available in those stores. I purchased MAC Lustre Lipstick in Shy Shine, MAC Sheertone Blush in Garb, Bobbi Brown blush in Desert Rose, and Kiehl's Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser. I got the lipstick and two blushes from Cosmetics Company and the cleanser from Designer Fragrances and Cosmetics Co. The two MAC products are not currently available as they were limited editions.
Shy Shine is sheer, slightly shimmery mauve/pink nude color. It's very wearable because it's pretty close to my natural lip color. It's my lips but better color for me. It gives a more polished look than bare lips.
Garb is a sheer nude blush. It leans orange but it's very toned down color.
Desert Rose is mauvy pink rose color. It's also very wearable.
I was safe with color choices today, which is more practical because colors that make me say "Oooh~ Pretty!" look ridiculous on me. Safe blushes are good for me. :D
Here are some pics for the three items!

Yves Saint Laurent YSL Rouge Volupte in No. 30 Faubourg Peach Review
YSL Rouge Volupte No. 30 Faubourg Peach |
Yves Saint Laurent YSL Rouge Volupte in 30 Faubourg Peach is a bright peach lipstick with no pink tone in my eyes. This was my choice when I want a peach color that's not completely nude or have pink undertone. Sephora website calls it "pastel coral with red undertones". I don't see enough pink to call it coral though. But just as a reference. :) When worn lightly, it can give a peachy almost nude lips. It brightens your lips but it's not distracting bright this way. When built to opacity, it's the bright peach color that it is on the tube. I prefer to wear it lightly as it's much more wearable that way.
Formula is very pigmented. It's also very creamy and moisturizing on your lips. With that comes the fact the lipstick is slippery and can bleed out. It's not an issue if you wear it sheer. It goes on beautifully but it can accentuate dry lips, so I recommend moisturizing well before :) Well, that goes for most lipsticks. This has spf 15.
It lasts about 2-3 hours on me with regular talking, drinking, and etc. It comes off easily on cups but some color do stay behind. The staying power is pretty typical of creamy lipsticks.
This is probably my favorite lipstick packaging. The tube is absolutely beautiful and looks very luxurious. The middle enamel part is the color of the lipstick so you can tell what it is without looking at the bottom. :) It broke once on me (it didn't twist down all the way) but I fixed it. That wasn't a packaging problem but more of a formula issue.
